Club History In June 1936 The Argus reported “WOMEN'S LACROSSE was played at Albert Park on Saturday for the first time in Melbourne.”“Vigorous play in a women's lacrosse game at Albert Park, when teams representing YWCA and Williamstown were practicing.” Lacrosse has been added to the long list of sports for women in this country, its pioneer being Miss Nell Rawlins, director of sport and physical culture for the Y.W.CA., Melbourne. By 1941, war time conditions again saw the game go into recess.
